Hi,
I would like to find out the best procedure to migrate a Hardcat database from a MSSQL 2000 server to a MSSQL 2008 server (if possible) or to a MSSQL 2005 server. Can you please tell me the best steps?
Can you simply backup the database, restore to the new server, restore logins, etc - then repoint the DSN? Also there are alot of users who use the hardcat application - what is the best method used to update the connection to the new database server? |

Yes, please click on this link for info about migrating your existing database into another DBMS.
NOTE: Please ensure you have Build 700+ of Hardcat before migrating across to SQL 2005/2008. And check out our Technical Requirements Doc to ensure the selected DBMS will be supported.

If you are referring to SQL Server Backup & Restore, than no. See this link for information how SQL Server tools does not complete the restore correctly.
Please use the method I had mentioned above.
I hope this information helps.
