Hi,
I would like to find out the best procedure to migrate a Hardcat database from a MSSQL 2000 server to a MSSQL 2008 server (if possible) or to a MSSQL 2005 server. Can you please tell me the best steps?

Can you simply backup the database, restore to the new server, restore logins, etc - then repoint the DSN? Also there are alot of users who use the hardcat application - what is the best method used to update the connection to the new database server?

Yes, please click on this link for info about migrating your existing database into another DBMS.

NOTE: Please ensure you have Build 700+ of Hardcat before migrating across to SQL 2005/2008. And check out our Technical Requirements Doc to ensure the selected DBMS will be supported.

If you are referring to SQL Server Backup & Restore, than no. See this link for information how SQL Server tools does not complete the restore correctly.

Please use the method I had mentioned above.

I hope this information helps.
